Goal is wreath on grave of every veteran in Wilkes
The North Wilkesboro American Legion Rider’s Post 31 has a goal of ensuring there is a wreath on the graves of every military veteran in Wilkes County this Christmas, said a spokesman for the organization.
Every church with a cemetery in Wilkes is encouraged to identify where veterans are buried and consider buying 20-inch Fraser fir wreaths with red bows for $5 each from the American Legion Rider’s Post 31 to place on these graves. The deadline for wreath orders is Oct. 15.
The spokesman said fundraisers are planned to raise money for purchasing wreaths for graves of veterans buried in Mountlawn Memorial Park, Scenic Memorial Gardens and North Wilkesboro City cemeteries. “Donations to the 501c3 non-profit organization “for this labor of love” for deceased veterans will be greatly appreciated, said the spokesman.
To order wreaths or for more information, contact the American Legion Rider’s Post 31 at [email protected] or go to the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090628446697.
Donations can be mailed to American Legion Rider’s Post 31, P.O. Box 8153, North Wilkesboro, N.C., 28659
