One of the best ways to get into the Christmas spirit is by decorating your home with festive and cheerful decorations. While shop-bought decorations can be beautiful, there's something special about crafting your own DIY Christmas decorations.

Not only is crafting a fun and creative outlet, but it's also a great way to save money during the holiday season. Instead of spending a fortune on buying decorations, you can create unique and personalised items that reflect your own style. Plus, if you get the kids involved with the Christmas crafting it's a lovely way to show them growing up and their skills improving each year, make sure to make a note of the date and their age on the back of any ornaments they make!

Crafting is a wonderful way to spend time with friends and family, whether you're working on a project together or sharing ideas and inspiration. Follow our steps to create a snowflake-shaped candle holder base that can then be gilded with beautiful gold leaf to add some sparkle to your table.

Prefer the more minimalist Scandi style of decor? We've got you covered with this stylish and simple, no-sew felt garland.

Armed with just a few simple supplies you'll be able to whip up this mistletoe leaf garland in no time. It can be made as long or short as you like – a shorter version is great for dressing up a mantle piece, while a longer version is a great alternative to tinsel on the Christmas tree.

If you want to add a bit more colour you can swap out the white felt for different shades of green and paint the wooden beads red to look like berries.Make It

You can get two main kinds of fillable baubles, glass ones where you remove the hanging hook and fill from the top by pouring items in, and the other where it's an acrylic split bauble that opens into two equal halves that you can decorate or fill with larger decorations or little gifts.

You can keep them plain and simple or dress them up with sprinkles and candy balls as baubles.

The perfect craft for older kids who want to try something a bit more intricate.

These doves are made out of medium weight card stock (we've even supplied a template outline for you) and then decorated with a design created with small needle pokes.

Draw an outline of the pattern you want to create very lightly with pencil, then place a folded tea towel under the card stock and carefully use a sewing needle to pierce the design into the card.
